Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. (BAMSI) was incorporated on March 21, 1975 as South Shore Multi-Services Inc., under Chapter 180 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as a not-for-profit human service organization. On July 9, 1975, it changed its name to Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. It was formed for the development, coordination, and delivery of integrated human service programs, and according to its website, its mission is “to empower people and enrich their lives, through compassionate support and diverse services, one individual, one family a time.” BAMSI employees up to 2,000 people and operates adult, child, and family services, assisting approximately 30,000 individuals each year in Worcester, Middlesex, Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth Counties.

Do you have an interest in health-care and would like the opportunity to work alongside nurses providing care to people with unique medical needs? BAMSI’s community based group homes are designed to support up to five individuals in a large comfortable home setting . Our Residential Counselors work alongside a nurse on shift to provide a caring, socially stimulating and interactive home environment for the individuals we serve. This position provides personal care, van transportation to appointments and community outings and requires daily documentation of activities and progress toward goals.
Must have a high school diploma/GED, valid driver's license in state of residence and a desire to provide direct care and support.

Essential Functions: To assist disabled and/or brain injured adults living in supervised residential settings in order to ensure their safety and well-being in a manner that promotes growth, independence and dignity.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
• High school diploma or equivalency, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
• Previous experience working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Ability to record data using a computer, enter time worked into an electronic system and receive and send email required.
• A valid driver's license in state of residence and satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to comprehend materials related to medication administration, ISP’s, PBS and ADL programs.
• Ability to speak and write English clearly and accurately in order to keep documentation up to date and understandable.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with persons served, families, service providers and case managers.
• Ability to lift, transfer, push/pull, maneuver, and reposition 25 pounds.
• Ability to reach, bend, stand, sit and walk; perform fine motor activities.
• Work effectively in a moderate to occasionally loud work environment.
