    The Community Specialist provides support to members of the  Enrichment Center in a manner that promotes growth, independence and dignity.

    1. Organize and facilitate group and individual activities which serve to integrate the lives of persons served within their community.
    2. Actively promote the development and implementation of personal goals.
    3. Provide opportunities for social and recreational activities.
    4. Respond to needs and problems of members with practical guidance and advice geared toward realizing aspirations, cooperation with others within a social environment.
    5. Ensure client safety and comply with program standards for staff coverage.
    6. Act as consumer advocate and role model.
    7. Provide personal care and physical support to persons served.
    8. Transport persons served in a wheelchair van.
    9. Communicate in a professional manner.
    10. Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor.
    11. Perform duties consistent with program and agency policies and procedures.
    12. Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Universal/standard precautions must be utilized and training obtained in areas that constitute risk.


    1. High School Diploma or GED
    2. 2 years direct care experience working with a disabled population required.
    3. Must possess a valid drivers license in state of residence.
    4. New hires/employees at this location are required to complete a TB screening and may be required to a have a tuberculin skin test or other FDA approved testing and or submit proof of a chest xray.
    5. This program requires proof of physical within 12 months of start date.
