    Mental Health Milieu Counselors at BAMSI implement and/or assist in the care and treatment of individuals with mental illness seeking treatment at our Adult Day Treatment Center which provides a recovery-oriented therapeutic environment through group therapy, peer support and psycho-educational groups. Mental Health Counselors aide in improving the individuals functional skills essential to maintain independent daily living as well as establishing goals related to enhancing social, emotional and vocational skills.


    Must have a bachelor's degree in a human service field with experience in a mental health setting. Valid driver's license in state of residence and satisfactory driving record is also required.

    General Statement of Duties: Works within the program under the supervision of the Program Director. Implements and/or assists in the care and treatment of clients who are emotionally disabled.


    1. Maintain a caseload of clients as assigned by the Program Director.
    2. Complete clinical documentation
    3. Person centered treatment planning
    4. Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
    5. Implementing the clinical aspects of the program (i.e., group and milieu treatment).
    6. Actively participate in supervision meetings as well as all other required meetings.
      7. Attend all required trainings and demonstrate continued growth and competency.
      8. Perform duties consistent with program and agency policy and procedures.
      9. Perform duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Universal/standard precautions must be utilized and training obtained in areas that constitute risk.
    7. Maintain a valid driver’s license and own means of transportation for the purpose of attending external meetings, transporting persons served and shopping for program items as required.
    8. Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by the Program


    • Bachelor's degree in a human services field required. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, 5 years of relevent experience in the mental health field can be substituted.
    • Valid driver's license in state of residence.
